Temple Grandin

Temple Grandin (Claire Danes) is a story of an autistic woman and her struggles as she went through in the 60's. An era were autistic people where thought of a burden on society. Their families only solution was to institutionalize them. Her mother Eustacia (Julia Ormond) knew that her daughter was special and that she could be taught to understand. Temple has a photographic memory. This was her unique way to see the world. Temple's mother prepared her for college. She always feared the cruelty of people who would not understand her childlike communication skills would mask her Einstein intelligence.

This movie is about the struggle of Temple Grandin, her love for animals and development of more humane methods of taking care of livestock for the slaughterhouse. One of her inventions was her "squeeze machine". She would use this machine to comfort herself when she felt fear or overwhelmed. Temple managed to win over everyone she met. A touching story of never judging a book by its cover, Temple's autism never stopped her from achieving greatness. She earned her Doctorate Degree in Animal Science. Exceeding in education, she is also a published journalist in the magazine and newspaper world. Temple Grandin is an inspiration to all. This is a must see movie for all ages.
